Merciless

Title: Merciless (10×60’)
Producer: Globo (Brazil)
Broadcaster: TV Globo (Brazil)
Distributor: Globo International (Brazil)
Synopsis: Drama written by award-winning author Glória Perez (The Clone) about a handsome, intelligent, apparently sensitive man who is in fact a cold-hearted serial killer. Billed as the first series entirely recorded and post-produced using 4K ultra high-definition technology.
Status: Globo will be looking for buyers in Rio following the show’s launch at Natpe in January.

The Hunter

Title: The Hunter (10×60’)

Synopsis: Thriller about a cop, played by Cauã Reymond (Brazil Avenue), who, having been imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit, sets out to prove his innocence and start afresh as a bounty hunter.
Status: Having averaged a 35% share during its run in Brazil, The Hunter is one of several new shows in the Globo catalogue embracing shorter story arcs.

New Species: Expedition Amazon Rainforest

Title: New Species: Expedition Amazon Rainforest (1×90’/2×43’)
Producer: Grifa Filmes (France)

Distributor: Elo Company (Brazil)
Synopsis: Documentary series following world-renowned scientists as they trek through unexplored Brazilian rainforest in search of rare animals that have never been filmed before.
Status: This project has been in development for some time but Elo Company came onboard recently as distributor and is now aiming to secure presales.

Guardian Council

Title: Guardian Council (5×48’)

Synopsis: Miniseries about a group of ‘Guardians’ chosen by the people to safeguard the nation’s children. Inspired by the true-life stories of Brazilian child protection officers and shot in 4K.
Status: Buyers are sought for the first season of this drama, which aired on Rede Record over consecutive nights in December and is now set for a second run.

Visceral Brasil

Title: Visceral Brasil (13×26’)

Synopsis: Documentary series about 13 masters of the Brazilian music tradition.
Status: A distributor is sought for the show, which is now a finished programme.

Yes or No (Si o No)

Synopsis: Sitcom format developed in-house by Telefe that requires viewers to vote on how the story progresses using a mobile app.
Status: Broadcasters and producers sought for local remakes.

Fight or Love?

Synopsis: Romantic comedy about the relationships of cousins contesting the million-dollar bequest of an historic department store. One of five new telenovelas in Globo’s 2015 catalogue.
Status: Buyers sought for a series that reached 35 million viewers during its run on Globo last year.

No Borders: From Township to Favela

Title: No Borders – From Township to Favela (8×30′)

Synopsis: Documentary series exploring the reality of living in a favela in Brazil and a township in South Africa through the eyes of two charismatic community leaders.
Status: Filmed last year and picked up by South African free-to-air channel eKasi+, Brazilian and other broadcasters are currently being sought.

The Legacy of Rock & Roll

Title: The Legacy of Rock & Roll (150×60’)

Synopsis: Romantic comedy in the telenovela tradition with a nostalgic musical twist, about a couple who fall in love one summer during the 1990s but then drift apart.
Status: Aired on Telefe in August last year, averaging an audience share of 36%.

Criminal MasterMind

Synopsis: Based on the best-selling novel Sangre en el Divan, this thriller reveals a distinguished psychiatrist to be a cold-blooded murderer.
Status: Intro Pictures recently acquired rights to develop the format, the first from Cisneros to be remade in Brazil.

Sweet Mother

Title: Sweet Mother (14×30’)

Synopsis: Comedy format about an 85-year-old grandmother who pushes the limits of her age and does everything she can for her family and friends.
Status: Buyers are sought for this finished programme, which is being introduced to the international market following local success.
