Electus links with Dark Net’s Bartlett

US-based multimedia studio Electus has agreed an exclusive development deal with Jamie Bartlett, writer of The Dark Net, and plans to take as-yet-unrevealed projects to market this month.

Jamie Bartlett

Author and investigative journalist Bartlett is the director of The Centre for the Analysis of Social Media, a collaboration between UK think-tank Demos and the University of Sussex.

His book The Dark Net is an examination of the hidden corners of the internet, its strange subcultures and the people who inhabit it.

Bartlett’s work has appeared in The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Sunday Times and his television series, Secrets of Silicon Valley, premiered on BBC2 in August.

Embedding himself with radical groups for weeks and sometimes months at a time, Bartlett has gained access and insights into the secrets of the Californian tech hub, including the use of social media and big data by political movements and law enforcement; internet subcultures, the dark net and crypto-currencies; surveillance and hacking technology; social media monitoring and more.

The partnership was announced by Electus CEO Chris Grant.
