Electric Dreams, Good Doctor visit Russia

Philip K Dick’s Electric Dreams

Russian pay TV and SVoD firm Amedia TV has acquired the rights to Sony Pictures Television (SPT)’s Electric Dreams and The Good Doctor.

The shows will simulcast on Amedia TV via its linear pay TV channel Amedia Premium and SVoD service Amediateka.

Electric Dreams is a sci-fi anthology series of 10 standalone episodes based on the works of acclaimed author Philip K Dick.

Medical drama The Good Doctor was developed by David Shore (House) and Lost and Hawaii Five-0 star Daniel Dae Kim, based on the 2013 South Korean series of the same name.

Other SPT series Amedia in which has invested include House of Cards, Better Call Saul and Preacher. It also premiered Breaking Bad and Masters of Sex in Russia simultaneously with their US broadcast.

Earlier this year, Amedia signed a multi-year deal to became the home of HBO content in Russia, taking the rights to broadcast first-run HBO shows and the US cablenet’s entire programming library exclusively.

Electric Dreams is airing now on Amedia and The Good Doctor will begin on September 26.
