Eccho Rights grows Asian footprint

Scandinavia-based distributor Eccho Rights has added to its team in Asia by hiring a sales manager from South Korean broadcaster iMBC.

Deborah Youn

Deborah Youn will be based in Eccho’s newly established office in Seoul, South Korea, where she will be a distribution and business development executive.

Youn was previously responsible for global distribution and digital licensing of MBC content, as well as acquiring English-language programming for Korean OTT platforms.

She will be responsible for sales of the Eccho catalogue into Korea and for developing relationships with Korean producers and platforms.

“We believe strongly in the Korean market, both as a source for readymade hits but also as a market for format adaptations,” said Nixon Yau Lim, head of Asia Pacific at Eccho Rights.

Eccho has previously licensed the Korean scripted format Ice Adonis, from CJ Group, in Ukraine.

The distribution outfit claims to have licensed more than 2,000 hours of content into the Asian market and has also adapted the scripted Turkish series Fatmagul in India.
