US network E! has ordered a five-part documentary series about the recent life of actress and activist Rose McGowan.

Rose McGowan

Citizen Rose, which is produced by Banijay Group-owned Bunim/Murray Productions (BMP) in the US, will detail McGowan’s experiences in the build-up to the launch of her autobiography/manifesto Brave.

It includes a 10-day period in which she was arrested, met former President Barack Obama and was crowned one of Time Magazine’s People of the Year.

McGowan has been a central figure in the scandal surrounding disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein and one of the prominent accusers.

McGowan will exec produce the series alongside Jonathan Murray, Gil Goldschein, Farnaz Farjam Chazan and Andrea Metz for BMP. The series will premiere with a two-hour special at the end of January, followed by four episodes in the Spring.

“Rose McGowan’s courage in addressing sexual abuse and harassment in Hollywood ignited a conversation and inspired other women to speak out against their abusers,” said Amy Introcaso-Davis, executive VP for development and production at E!.

“We look forward to taking viewers inside this talented, dynamic woman’s world as the first allegations unfold and she becomes a leading voice in a critical cultural change.”
