Dylan Dog rights change hands in Italy

Dylan Dog centres on a paranormal investigator

An Italian comic-publishing house has acquired the rights to produce feature films and TV series based on horror comic series Dylan Dog.

Sergio Bonelli Editore (SBE) has picked up the media and consumer products rights to the property, which follows a paranormal investigator, from Platinum Studios for an undisclosed fee.

The deal means SBE, which has been operating since the 1940s, will have the right to create movies, TV series, video games and other productions based on the cult IP, which was created by Tiziano Sclavi in the 1980s.

A feature film, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, based on the comic was produced by Platinum Studios and released in 2011.

Law firm BonelliErede advised SBE on the agreement, while Platinum was assisted by Takehara & Stuart LLP.
