Dual-language Ludwigs head for Nick

Kids’ channel Nickelodeon has commissioned a series from Netherlands-based prodco Blooming Media that will be filmed in both English and Dutch.

The Ludwigs will air on Nickelodeon globally while De Ludwigs will be screened by Nickelodeon Netherlands. Both productions will be filmed and produced in Amsterdam in 2016 and will share the same scripts and set.

The plot follows the comedic adventures of five children who embark on a quest to find their foster parents Mr and Mrs Ludwig following their mysterious disappearance, while also keeping up appearances that everything is fine at home to fend off the Ludwigs’ greedy heirs.

Russell Hicks, president of content development and production at Nickelodeon, said: “Expanding productions to other parts of the world allows us to tap into new talent and creative opportunities in every corner of the globe.

“These new productions are a great example of how the alignment of our development teams into one global unit has allowed us to create a diverse slate of content to satisfy any creative need in the ever-changing landscape.”
