Drive takes Rome doc to Cannes

Drive Media Rights, the distribution arm of the production funding agency led by Lilla Hurst and Ben Barrett, is taking a raft of factual shows to Cannes including a documentary series about the Roman Empire.

8 Days that Made Rome (8×60’) is from UK prodco October Films and explores eight days that defined the empire, using scripted drama, interviews and CGI visualisations.

Also on the slate is Annie: Out of the Ashes (1×60′), also from October, which was produced for BBC3 and tells the story of the daughter of a white Irish traveller mother and a black British father who was shunned by her family from birth.

Volatile Earth (3×60′), meanwhile, is from Blink Films and sees leading natural disaster experts identify the most extreme catastrophes to have hit Earth in the past 100,000 years.

Drive was launched three years ago and provides consultancy services for production company clients including Raw TV, Barcroft Productions, October Films, Blink, Yap Films and Lightbox. Its distribution division, Drive Media Rights, launched in September 2016.
