Drive finances Kenyan Mall doc

Broadcasters across the world have come on board a one-off doc about the 2013 Kenyan mall massacre as deficit financers and coproducers.

Terror at the Mall is a coproduction between the BBC and premium US cablenet HBO telling the horrific story of a terrorist assault over four days that left 67 dead and hundreds wounded.

Amos Pictures and award winning producer and director Dan Reed produced the doc, which secured unprecedented access to CCTV footage from the Nairobi Westgate shopping mall where the terrorist attack took place this time last year.

Drive, founded last year by Ben Barrett and Lilla Hurst to source coproduction partners and deficit financing for TV productions, has closed a number of deals for the programme ahead of its BBC premiere this evening.

Investment in the project was secured from Channel 9 in Australia, DR in Denmark, TV2 Norway and Swedish pubcaster SVT. Drive also brokered a distribution deal with Earth Touch for the remaining territory rights.
