DRG promotes Halliwell to CEO

Modern Times Group-backed distributor DRG has promoted MD Richard Halliwell to CEO in a reshuffle of its senior management team.

Richard Halliwell

Halliwell, who joined DRG in 2013 from BBC Worldwide, replaces Jeremy Fox, who is moving into the newly created role of executive chairman.

Fox will primarily focus on scripted opportunities for the business as well as new SVoD commissioning venture Atrium TV, which was unveiled at MipTV.

“Richard is very entrepreneurial and commercial, he gets things done and succeeds in managing everyday issues while constantly driving the business forward with new ideas,” Fox said.

The news comes after Halliwell appointed Elin Thomas as DRG’s first exec VP of sales and struck a deal with UK-based IP incubator Wildseed to represent its content on the international market.

Halliwell said he would “explore new opportunities for developing, creating and monetising content” in order to grow the business.

In related news, sales manager Adam Barth has been promoted to VP of sales with a remit across EMEA.
