Dori sets up US joint venture

Israeli entertainment group Dori Media has partnered with Charlie Ebersol’s US prodco to develop, produce and distribute unscripted and scripted programming together.

The joint venture has been set up by Dori alongside The Company, the LA-based production outfit launched by entertainment exec Ebersol and Mike Lanigan in 2010.

The two firms will develop content for the international market, with the aim to create four new pilots a year to sell around the world.

The selected pilots will be sourced from a combination of internally developed projects and inbound third party concepts from both Israel and the US, The Company said.

Dori will produce in Israel, Argentina, and Asia, while The Company will produce in the US with Dori distributing formats worldwide. The deal marks the first international business venture for Ebersol.

The pair hopes the JV will create “an international production pipeline that will enable rights retention for creative producers both in the United States and Israel.”

The Company is behind unscripted formats on cable and broadcast networks in the US such as The Profit and NFL Characters Unite.

Dori, meanwhile, owns a number of media companies, located in Israel, Switzerland, Argentina and the US.

“This venture allows us to create a vehicle for innovative producers to bring their project to life while being protected both creatively and financially,” said Ebersol, founder and CEO of The Company.

Nadav Palti, CEO and president of Dori Media, added: “This partnership is a savvy way to build on the working relationships we’ve established as well as the collective strengths of our two groups.”
