Doctors vs Internet made its debut on NRK1

Dutch public broadcaster NPO1 has working on a local version of a Norwegian format where doctors compete against members of the public with laptops to diagnose patients.

Doctors vs Internet originally aired on NRK1 in Norway, where a second season is due to air next year, and indie Sputnik Media is now working on a 3×60′ version for NPO1.

The format is a studio-based show where members of the public without medical training race qualified doctors to diagnose real-life patients using the internet.

In a twist, the Dutch version will bring in celebrities to fill the role of the novice researchers.

The show is being distributed worldwide by Magnify Media, the UK-based firm set up by former MD of acquisitions and formats at DRG, Andrea Jackson.

Magnify has sold the format to producers in nine other territories including Force Four Entertainment in Canada, Bavaria Entertainment in Germany, Aito Media in Finland, Lune Media in Australia and Newen’s Production Valley in France. Sputnik has taken the rights in Holland and Belgium.
