DNI cooks up extreme cuisine, baking

Discovery Networks International (DNI) has ordered an extreme adventure cooking series fronted by Scottish/Australian chef Jock Zonfrillo and a UK bakery-themed series.

Nomad Chef will see Australia-based Zonfrillo travel to some of the world’s most remote communities to explore indigenous cuisines by combining cooking with anthropology.

Returning back home to his city-based restaurant, Zonfrillo then has to deliver a menu inspired by his various trips.

The series has been commissioned and will be exec produced by Vikram Channa for DNI, as well as Tony Jackson for Melbourne-based Chemical Media and Donovan Chan for Singapore-based Beach House Pictures.

DNI has also ordered The Fabulous Baker Brothers: A Bite of Britain (6×60′, working title) from Discovery-owned UK production outfit Betty, to be exec produced by Channa, for its female-skewing lifestyle channel TLC.

The series will see baker Tom Herbert and his chef brother Henry embark on a road trip across Great Britain in search of the very best of homegrown food from British producers.

The two shows will premiere on DNI’s portfolio of lifestyle networks in more than 220 countries and territories across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa from this autumn, followed by Latin America in early 2015.
