DLT taps ITVS for producer

Transatlantic prodco DLT Entertainment has appointed an ITV Studios (ITVS) comedy producer to develop new shows as it seeks to offset the end of its long-running sitcom My Family.

Rohan Acharya joins DLT in a newly created producer role, in which he will seek to create “narrative and non-narrative” scripted shows. He reports to DLT president Don Taffner Jr, working out of the firm’s London office.

Acharya was previously a producer in ITVS’s comedy department, where he notably co-developed White Van Man, a series for UK diginet BBC3 that stars Will Mellor (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps).

Prior to that, he held a number of positions within the BBC’s comedy division. “(Acharya’s) flair for formats and scripts and his ability to identify and nurture new talent is second to none and his extensive TV, theatre and radio experience will be an enormous asset,” said Taffner, Jr.

DLT is currently seeking new comedy hits after UK pubcaster BBC1’s new controller Danny Cohen axed long-running ratings-winner My Family after 11 years.
