ABC’s upcoming thriller The Catch, produced by ShondaLand and ABC Studios, has been picked up by the UK’s Sky Living and Poland’s TVN, while talks are under way with broadcasters in more than 180 other territories in Europe, Scandinavia, South East Asia, Australasia and Africa.

ShondaLand dramas have become synonymous with Thursday nights on ABC, most recently the Emmy-winning How To Get Away with Murder, which has been sold into 225 territories; award-winning medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, acquired in 238 territories; and political thriller Scandal, taken in 229. The Catch is scheduled to launch in mid-season 2015/16.

Exec-produced by Rhimes and Betsy Beers, The Catch follows a successful fraud investigator, played by Mireille Enos, who turns into a fraud victim herself thanks to her fiancé.

“It’s such a great time in the industry for scripted programming and the universal appeal of ABC Studios’ highlights its creativity and strength,” said Disney Media Networks’ president of global distribution Ben Pyne. “I’m hugely proud of the production teams behind these fantastic titles and the strong sales reflect the global appeal for compelling, high-quality TV.”

Other new titles on Disney Media Distribution’s Mipcom slate include ABC Studios’ The Muppets, crime drama Wicked City and FBI series Quantico.
