Disney, OSN unveil MENA movie net

OSN Movies Disney HD will carry films including Toy Story

DISCOP: Middle East pay TV platform OSN has continued its exclusive relationship with Disney by launching a co-branded high-definition movie channel.

OSN Movies Disney HD will arrive on the platform on March 1, available in both English and Arabic. The net will be home to animation, live-action, classics and new movies.

Movies to air on the service will include Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean, Moana, Toy Story and Cars.

The network was described by OSN as the first co-branded Disney channel in the Middle East and North Africa, and only the fourth globally.

OSN said the channel will premiere Mouse House movies at least one year before they air anywhere else in the region. Furthermore, the films will be available via SVoD services OSN Play and OSN On Demand.

OSN is currently the exclusive provider of the channels Disney XD, Disney Junior and Disney Channel HD, in addition to offering three exclusive digital services: Disney Channel Pop Pick Play, Disney English and Disney Channel Hindi.

Customers also have access to box sets of series with ABC Studios on Demand and classic movies on Disney on Demand.

The move comes a week after OSN inked a deal to add Netflix’s app to its next generation of set-top boxes, which are due to launch in the second quarter of this year.
