Disney Junior picks Pikwik

Disney Junior has picked up a preschool comedy series from Toronto-based Guru Studio for its networks in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and India.

Pikwik (52×11′) follows a team of animals led by a thoughtful hedgehog as they help deliver surprise-filled parcels to the colourful residents of the eponymous town.

The episodes are “packed with silly hijinks, big adventure and heartfelt charm that will entertain preschoolers while underscoring the value of teamwork, responsibility and critical thinking,” according to Guru Studio.

The series was created by Guru’s executive creative director Frank Falcone, development executive Rachel Reade Marcus and former executive VP Mary Bredin, who left the firm earlier this year.

Guru is the animation studio behind preschool series such as Paw Patrol, True & the Rainbow Kingdom and Justin Time, as well as feature film The Breadwinner.
