Disney Jr takes another bite of Vampirina

Vampirina is based on children’s book series Vampirina Ballerina

Disney Junior has commissioned Dublin-based studio Brown Bag Films to produce a second season of its animated show Vampirina.

The series is inspired by Disney Publishing’s children’s book series Vampirina Ballerina, written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham.

It follows a friendly family of vampires who have recently relocated from Transylvania to Pennsylvania and airs on Disney Junior in 115 countries and in 15 languages worldwide.

It is produced by 9 Story Media Group-owned Brown Bag Films in association with Disney Junior. Brown Bag is also the studio behind Doc McStuffins, another Disney Junior series.

Broadway composers Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond are the series’ songwriters and Layla Minoui is the composer of the music.

Executive producers include Chris Nee and co-executive producer Norton Virgien, while the voice cast includes Wanda Sykes, Lauren Graham, James Van Der Beek and Isabella Crovetti.

“Vampirina’s relatable experience of a young girl trying to adapt and blend in with her new schoolmates, while also celebrating her own uniqueness, has resonated with our audience of young kids and families,” said Joe D’Ambrosia, senior VP, original programming at Disney Junior.
