Disney gives Nelvana’s Pets a home

Disney Channel has taken the international rights to an animated series based on the ZhuZhu Pets toy line.

Disney Channel in the US will begin airing Polly & the ZhuZhu Pets (26×22′) on September 12 before it is shown by the Mouse House in countries around the world.

Disney has taken the TV and on-demand rights to the show in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The series is produced by Corus Entertainment-owned Nelvana at its Toronto studio and follows a group of fun-seeking, adventurous pets.

It is inspired by the line of plush robotic hamster toys which first appeared in 2009 and were known in the UK as Go Go Hamsters.
