Disney, CiTV onboard kids’ Fort Boyard

Disney XD and CiTV in the UK have confirmed picking up a children’s version of long-running Zodiak Media Group gameshow format Fort Boyard.

ITV-owned CiTV has commissioned two 10×30′ series, which started life in France more than two decades ago. Disney has licensed these to air across its XD cabsat channel globally, except France and the Nordics.

Fort Boyard – Ultimate Challenge will be produced by Zodiak-owned prodcos The Foundation and Adventure Line Productions, which created the concept and have been producing the series for 22 years.

The kids’ version will be set in the “19th century Napoleonic sea fort” where the adult versions for countries all around the globe are produced. It will be shot on location off La Rochelle, on the west coast of France, this summer and will premiere on Disney XD in the US and on CiTV in the UK before rolling out globally.
