Discovery’s US networks stock up

Discovery Communications has unveiled a raft of new commissions for its US channels including TLC, Science and Velocity at its annual TCA presentation in Los Angeles.

Discovery Channel has commissioned Tigress Productions to make Man, Cheetah, Wild, which will premiere on October 3 at 21.00 (ET/PT).

The series focuses on maverick game ranger and filmmaker Kim Wolhuter, who has an ability to connect with wild predators and dangerous animals in his native Zimbabwe.

Discovery’s female-skewing lifestyle channel TLC, meanwhile, will premiere a second season of Secret Princes on Friday October 25 at 22.00.

The eight-part Objective Pictures series will follow four royal bachelors as they leave their kingdoms behind and travel to the US to search for love.

Raw TV is making The Unexplained Files for Science Channel. The 6×60′ series exposes mind-boggling cases of abductions, mutated species and bizarre occurrences that science struggles to explain.

It will premiere on Science in the US on Wednesday August 28 at 21.00 (ET/PT) before rolling out internationally on Discovery Channel in more than 220 territories.

Investigation Discovery has commissioned NBC News’ Peacock Productions to make Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall, which will begin airing on Sunday September 1.

The 13-part weekly investigative magazine programme, fronted by NBC News correspondent Hall, goes behind the headlines to find out what really happened and why.

The crime-focused channel is also preparing Surviving Evil to premiere on August 28 at 22.00. The 10-episode Cineflix Productions series meets victims of violent crime who fought back and won.

Finally, Velocity is to air Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans, from producer Planet Grande. That will also premiere on August 28 at 22.00 and follows the actor’s attempts to compete in the 24-hour endurance car race.
