Discovery’s TLC preps six new series

US network TLC has unveiled its upcoming slate, which includes six new series and more than 40 new and returning shows.

The Discovery Communications-owned channel will broadcast more than 500 hours of original programming in 2014.

This will include Gurney Productions’ reality series The Leah Remini Project (working title), slated to air in the fall, which follows the day-to-day life of the actor and her family.

It will be joined by real estate show Listed Sisters (wt), from Matador Content, which will air in the winter along with Shed Media’s Long Lost Family (wt), about people looking to reunite with or meet family and friends.

Also on the TLC slate is Twofour Productions’ Risking It All (wt), which follows three families that decide to move away from the trappings of modern society for a better life.

A host of specials have also been ordered, including Figure Eight Films’ A Duggar Leaves, which follows the star of 19 Kids & Counting, Amy Duggar, as she moves to Nashville to try to become a singer.

Nancy Daniels, general manager at TLC, said that the variety of shows on the network would help “propel” its growth, after the channel claimed it had experienced its best first quarter in a decade.
