Discovery, Viasat, RMC fan Flame sales

Railroad Australia

Discovery Networks International (DNI) is among a host of international broadcasters to have acquired factual content from Australia’s Flame Distribution.

Season five of Outback Truckers and the second season of Railroad Australia, both of which are made by Prospero Productions, have been acquired by the broadcast giant for its channels in CEE, the Middle East and Africa..

DNI has also taken Flame lifestyle series Run for Your Life in the Middle East and Africa and reality series Scrap Kings in Italy and Benelux.

The DNI sales come amid a raft of deals Flame has secured across the world. In Europe, the distributor has shopped Scrap Kings to Viasat World for its Greece, Malta and Cyprus feed.

France-based RMC, meanwhile, has acquired car restoration show Ultimate Wheels, made by Splash Media TV, for its French-speaking territories.

Other recent sales deals from Flame include a factual programming package agreement with Knowledge Canada, with titles including Tony Robinson’s Walking Through History, produced by Wildfire TV, and science series Predict My Future, from Razor Films.

The distributor has also sold Tatu Pictures’ My Sheepdog & Me to BBC Wildlife.

Finally, viewers in Australia and New Zealand will be able to see documentary The Surgeon & the Soldier, about the friendship between an Iraqi refugee doctor and an injured soldier, after it was picked up by Nat Geo.
