Discovery ups Animal VPs

Discovery Communications has promoted two senior execs to oversee programming and production at its Animal Planet channel.

Andy Weissberg, who joined the network in 2009 as VP of programming and scheduling, becomes senior VP of programming, supervising the network’s shows and collaborating with multiple departments on Animal Planet series.

Erin Wanner, who has been named VP of production, will oversee the channel’s production teams in New York and Silver Spring and will work with internal and external producers on programming.

Wanner will also serve as an executive producer on shows, having joined the channel in 2007 and being senior director of production since 2009.

Both execs continue to report to Rick Holzman, general manager and exec VP of Animal Planet.
