Discovery takes Smighties to MENA

Herotainment and Toonz Media’a comedy-adventure Smighties

Discovery Networks has secured the rights to animated children’s show Smighties in the Middle East and North Africa from Imira Entertainment.

Smighties (78×7’) is a comedy-adventure coproduced by Herotainment and Toonz Media Group. The Discovery deal covers 25 Middle Eastern territories and includes English and Arabic versions of the show.

The series, which launched on YouTube Kids in July 2017, will air on Discovery’s DKids channel on the BeIN pay TV platform.

Three Smighties mobile games – Mighty Smighties, Smighty Stack and Smighty Sweeper – are already available and have notched up close to two million downloads.

Four new games are currently in production and will be launched this year. Imira is also in discussions about the programme with other broadcast partners.

This month the distributor announced sales in Latin America, the US and EMEA.
