Discovery takes Korean fathers format

Discovery Life in the US is preparing to air a Korean format that follows three celebrity fathers as they look after their children.

Project Dad is from US prodco Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment and sees the three celebs left alone with their kids while their partners leave home for 48 hours.

The series turns the camera on the dads as they try to put their careers to one side and get to know their children. It premieres on Discovery Life on November 1 at 19.00 and will then broadcast on TLC from January.

Project Dad is based on Return of Superman, owned and originally broadcast by Korean Broadcasting System. Populus Brands manages the network agreement with Discovery Communications and oversees partnerships, media sponsorships, and trade-out sales for the series.

Derek Britt and Ricky Paull Goldin of US-based prodco DB Goldline, William J Rouhana Jr of Chicken Soup and Eunhui Jong of Asian format-acquisition outfit Critical Density Media are executive producers.

Rouhana Jr, executive chairman of Chicken Soup said: “The show adds to our library of inspirational and entertaining content, and we expect the show to resonate with all audiences. This is our second television series to air on a cable network in just two years and we expect more to follow.”

Chicken Soup launched its TV and film production arm in 2014 , with former A+E executive Steve Ronson as its CEO.
