Discovery tackles conservation with VR

Discovery Communications in the US has produced three educational virtual reality (VR) experiences.

Discovery VR is releasing Racing Extinction: Project Conservation, The Hive and The Hive 360 video.

The first two will launch on Samsung Gear VR headsets today to coincide with National Education Week in the US, with the The Hive 360 to follow next week.

Racing Extinction: Project Conservation is an interactive video experience that offers close encounters with animals including elephants, tigers, giraffes, lions and rhinos as it teaches about their fight against extinction.

The Hive is an interactive game available as a standalone app in the Oculus Store. Exclusive to Gear VR, the game is set in a beehive and sees players embark on an endless commute to collect pollen and nectar in New York City.

The Hive 360 will be available on the Discovery VR app on Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Rift and allows viewers to further immerse themselves in the world of bees.
