Discovery lines up summer scripted

Discovery Channel will premiere a variety of scripted series in its summer schedule as well as survival show Darkness and documentary Mosquito.

Scripted anthology series Manhunt: Unabomber is from Lionsgate, Discovery and Trigger Street Productions. It tracks how FBI agent Jim ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald brought down Ted Kaczynski, aka the Unabomber, who began a bombing campaign in the late 1970s that continued until 1995.

Darkness will air in July and is inspired by the extreme training exercises conducted by the US military and NASA.

Mosquito, meanwhile, attempts to shed light on the growing threat posed by the insect, while medical docuseries First in Human is narrated by Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and is directed by John Hoffman. Executive producers include Hoffman and Dyllan McGee.

Discovery’s slate also includes Deadliest Catch: Legend of Wild Bill, gold rush series Devil’s Canyon and Homestead Rescue, which follow families who decide to move entirely off-grid.
