Discovery lines up $1m special

Discovery Communications will spend US$1m on a special focusing on the White House’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative, a programme designed to improve the lives of African-American boys and men.

Discovery aims to produce a TV special and host town hall meetings, led by Discovery Education, as part of the show.

The one-hour special will chronicle specific stories to show ways to help boys and men of colour.

It will be simulcast on Father’s Day 2015 on Discovery Channel and other US networks, including OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, as well as Discovery’s online properties.
