Above & Beyond: NASA’s Journey to Tomorrow

Discovery Networks International has unveiled its slate for next week’s MipTV, including a show that marks the 60th anniversary of US space organisation NASA.

Above & Beyond: NASA’s Journey to Tomorrow, which explores the space agency’s operations and its future, is directed and produced by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Rory Kennedy (Last Days in Vietnam).

Also on the slate is Telescope, which is directed by fellow Oscar-nominated filmmaker Nathaniel Kahn (My Architect, Two Hands). The show focuses on the next step in the evolution of telescopes, highlighting the development of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.

The space-focused duo are joined on Discovery’s slate by World’s Biggest Ship Builders, reality show Say Yes to the Dress and Culture Shock Norway, which sees Norwegian-Americans competing over who is most Norwegian.

Discovery’s format slate includes Naked & Afraid, which sees two complete strangers paired together for 21 days and tasked with surviving against the relentless elements of the wild.

Earlier this year Discovery unveiled its new management structure following the purchase of Scripps Networks Interactive, with Kathleen Finch overseeing 12 networks and Rich Ross leaving the company.
