Discovery, ITN dive into Thai cave doc

Discovery Channel in the US is preparing to air a fast-turnaround documentary about the rescue of 12 young football players and their coach from a cave in Thailand.

Operation Thai Cave Rescue is from UK-based ITN Productions and will reveal how the children became trapped and the scientific and technical innovations used in their rescue. The last of the boys was finally rescued yesterday after a three-week ordeal.

It will feature interviews with those involved, including medical experts and cave diving instructors, as well as exploring the living conditions faced by the children and their coach during their 18-day internment.

Jon Bardin and Andrew O’Connell will serve as executive producers for Discovery while Ian Russell is on board for ITN Productions. It will air on July 13 at 22.00 ET/PT on Discovery Channel, then repeat at the same time on July 14 on sibling network Science Channel.
