Discovery Italia ready to Trade Up

Discovery Italia has become the latest international broadcaster to commission a local version of Keshet International’s Israeli gameshow format Trade Up.

The format is a trivia game set in a car showroom. Families start by sitting in the car they would like to drive home at the end of the programme and then work together to answer enough questions.

However, they must also compete against another family in another car and only one can win, so they must try to put the others off and make it more difficult for them to win. The victorious family then has the option to ‘trade up’ to a better car or stick with the one they’ve already won.

Discovery Italia will air in Italian version on one of its channels, yet to be decided, this autumn after striking a deal with the sales arm of Israeli broadcaster and formats specialist Keshet.

Laura Carafoli, senior VP of content and programming at Discovery Italia, said: “Trade Up was one of the most brilliant and original formats at MipTV this year and this is our first deal with Keshet, one of the most interesting creative houses.”
