Discovery and Comcast renew deal

Discovery Communications and Comcast Corp have mended their recent rift and renewed their long-term distribution deal.

Under the new agreement, Comcast’s Xfinity TV customers will get Discovery’s 12 US networks, allowing them to access both past and current Discovery content on mobile devices for the first time.

The agreement replaces a carriage deal that expired in June. Discovery and Comcast had previously clashed over Comcast’s move to acquire Time Warner Cable earlier this year.

Discovery was one of the first companies to publicly express concerns about the proposed merger of the two largest cable operators in the US, which has since been dropped.
