Disabled love doc finds admirers

Broadcasters around the world have acquired a documentary about the romantic lives of a group of disabled people from RTÉ Global, the Irish pubcaster’s distribution arm.

Channel 8 in Israel, TV4 in Sweden, YLE in Finland and RTVE in Spain have picked up Somebody To Love (1×60′), produced by Dublin-based Wildfire Films.

The observational documentary explores the issue of sexuality in people with disabilities, dispelling common myths in an area that is still taboo for many.

The distributor, which was rebranded last year, recently sold Secrets of the Irish Landscape to The History Channel in Australia and TVO in Canada.

RTÉ Global is now focusing on stepping up its drama development through new coproduction and co-funding initiatives.
