DHX adds programming exec

DHX Television in Canada has appointed a former CBC exec as its new VP of programming.

Industry veteran Michael Serafini will oversee the strategic development, execution and promotion of the DHX Television channels and their digital extensions.

His appointment is effective immediately and follows the rebranding of DHX’s kids’ network Family CHRGD and preschool channels Family Jr and Télémagino under the Family Channel name.

“With more than 15 years in the Canadian media industry, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge, ingenuity and expertise of the broadcast landscape to our team,” said Joe Tedesco, senior VP and general manager of DHX Television.

Serafini was most recently the interim executive director of content planning for CBC Television, after moving from the role of senior director of content planning and acquisitions.

Prior to Serafini’s arrival, Michael Goldsmith, VP of original production, had assumed the additional responsibility for overseeing the strategic development and scheduling for the suite of channels.

Goldsmith will now return to focus his attention on original content development, overseeing DHX Television’s vast original programming slate.
