DCD takes Tern content global

Emergency Helicopter Medics was made for Channel 4

TV2 in Denmark and RTL Netherlands are among the international broadcasters to have picked up factual content produced by Scotland-based indie Tern TV from UK distributor DCD Rights.

TV2 and RTL have both acquired Flights from Hell: Caught on Camera, a one-hour special from Tern for Channel 4 in the UK, exploring extreme behaviour from people on planes and in airports.

Nine Network in Australia, Sky TV in New Zealand, BBC Brit in Poland, TV2 Norway and Israel’s Channel 8 have also picked up the show.

Sky TV in New Zealand is also the first broadcaster to pre-buy Tern’s new Channel 4 series Emergency Helicopter Medics, a 10×60’ access doc focusing on a pioneering team of flying doctors. The show will debut as part of DCD’s slate at MipTV in Cannes next month.

Also joining the DCD line-up is World’s Wildest Weather: Caught on Camera (2×60’), which also aired on Channel 4 and has been pre-bought by TVNZ.

Additionally, Blue Ant Media has acquired 10-part property series Best Laid Plans for its Cottage Life Channel in Canada.

Finally, the second season of BBC4’s The Art Detectives has sold to Sky TV in NZ, Histoire in France and APT in the US. A third season of the show is in the works after the second doubled BBC4’s ratings in its slot.
