Public broadcaster DR will air The Lost Aviator on its DR K channel following a deal with Australian distributor Escapade Media, which picked up rights last year.

Produced in association with Australian indies Porchlight Films and Photoplay Films, the doc tells the story of a love triangle gone terribly wrong, a mysterious discovery of a mummified body in the Sahara desert, and a love letter found 29 years too late.

It is directed by Andrew Lancaster, whose great uncle Bill made international headlines when he flew from London to Darwin in the late 1920 and then went on to be trialled for murder in Miami in the 1930s.

Sydney-based Escapade was launched by three former executives at ABC Commercial, the sales arm of the Australian pubcaster, last year.
