CW lives Charmed life on Sundays

UPFRONTS: US broadcast network The CW is completely revamping its Sunday night primetime schedule, with returning series Supergirl being moved from its Monday slot to lead into the reboot of supernatural drama Charmed.

The Charmed reboot was announced at the start of the year and has now been given a Sunday 21.00 slot.

Produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Propagate Content, the drama follows three sisters who discover they are witches after the death of their mother. The original series ran for eight seasons on The CW’s predecessor The WB, beginning in 1998.

Elsewhere, Arrow switches to Monday at 21.00 to follow DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Black Lightning, which has been in the works at Warner Bros since 2016 and is based on the DC Comics title, will premiere on Tuesdays following The Flash, which moves to a new night.

Supergirl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning are all exec produced by Greg Berlanti, whose other new show All American gets its debut at 21.00 on Wednesdays following the returning Riverdale.

From The CW’s parent studios Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios in association with Berlanti Productions, Riverdale – again exec produced by Berlanti – follows the story of a talented school football player from a rough neighbourhood who is recruited to play for the exclusive Beverly Hills High.

Thursday night sees a debut for supernatural series Legacies, from CBS and Warner Bros along with My So-Called Television and Alloy Entertainment.

Friday remains unchanged, with the Dynasty reboot followed by the final season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Comedy Jane the Virgin will return in mid-season for its final run along with returns of The 100 and iZombie, plus new series In the Dark and Roswell, New Mexico.
