Current’s Prestwood turns up at C4

Lina Prestwood, director of content at the soon-to-close UK net Current TV, has jumped straight back into employment with Channel 4 as part of its new factual team.

Lina Prestwood

Commercial broadcaster Channel 4 appointed Ralph Lee as its new head of factual in November, following the departure of Hamish Mykura, who has since joined National Geographic.

Lee today made two appointments to his team, bringing in Prestwood as commissioning editor and documentary maker Nick Mirsky as deputy head of factual.

Prestwood is currently the director of content at Current TV, which will close on March 11 after Virgin Media dropped it from its platform and BSkyB withdrew its funding.

Yesterday, Current MD Jane Mote told C21 that 23 jobs will go at the channel and all staff were actively looking for new positions.

While at Current, Prestwood commissioned and helped produce series including What Did I Do Last Night?, Male Hookers Uncovered and Babytrapped. Prior to Current, she worked with a number of indie prodcos including Tiger Aspect Productions, Diverse and Mentorn.

Nick Mirsky

Mirsky was previously working for the BBC on a number of series, strands and one-offs. He edited BBC2 strand Wonderland. Standout Wonderland projects include The Trouble with Love & Sex, which documented Relate counselling sessions through animation.

Mirsky also produced 20 high-profile Louis Theroux films for the BBC, including The Most Hated Family in America and Behind Bars.
