CTV acquires The X-Files

CTV in Canada has picked up Fox’s rebooted version of The X-Files.

The six-episode drama, produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, is helmed by original creator and executive producer Chris Carter.

Distributed by 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, the highly anticipated series will again follow FBI special agents Mulder and Scully as they investigate paranormal phenomena.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are reprising their iconic roles 13 years after the original series completed its nine-season run.

The X-Files is the first programme announced for CTV’s 2016 winter schedule and will air north of the border following its January premiere on Fox in the US.

In addition, sister Bell Media channel Space will air The Essential X-Files Collection, a curated selection of 20 must-see episodes of the original show, which will air during a two-day marathon on Saturday January 23 and Sunday January 24.
