Crunchyroll grows library, linear presence

US-based Japanese animé streamer Crunchyroll has stocked up on programming dubbed into Spanish and Portuguese as it expands its presence on linear TV in Brazil.

Crunchyroll’s animé block on Rede Brasil includes Black Clover

The service has added shows such as Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Mob Psycho 100, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Bungo Stray Dogs, Black Clover and Re:Zero to its SVoD library.

All the programming will be available worldwide, except in Asia, and comes after Crunchyroll expanded its presence on linear TV in Brazil.

Crunchyroll launched in the country through a deal with broadcaster Rede Brasil in April to provide an animé hour on Saturdays and Sundays, including subtitled episodes of Black Clover and Re:Zero.

The programming block has now been extended to weekday evenings on the broadcaster.

Crunchyroll claims to be the world’s largest streaming destination for animé and manga, with more than 40 million registered users and over one million subscribers.
