Content joins Small World order

Transatlantic distributor Content Media has joined creative forces with LA-based format boutique Small World IFT.

The agreement gives Content the right to take an equity stake in Small World IFT at a future date. This comes after Content took a 50% stake in New York-based Jigsaw Productions this month.

The new deal will see Content and Small World IFT develop a joint portfolio of formats.

Small World IFT will now be based at the LA offices of Content’s affiliated production company, Collins Avenue. The prodco recently hired the former formats coordinator for CBS International, Karla Burgos, as its new head of sales and development.

In the past the prodco has brought numerous formats to market, including Dragons’ Den, Silent Library and I Survived a Japanese Game Show. It currently has Romanian prodco Media Factory’s Miss Country Girl, The Group Entertainment format The Kitchen Musical from Singapore and Night Patrol from Finland’s Alto Media on its development slate.

Content CEO John Schmidt, said: “Small World IFT has terrific relationships around the world with many production companies and networks, and we are excited to begin working with them to grow their business, work on the format rights that Content is acquiring, and tie in with our production businesses at Collins and Jigsaw.”

Two weeks ago the firm announced it would be delisting from the London stock exchange because its current share structure had become a “significant barrier” to development and growth.
