Connect3 picks French-Canadian formats

MIPTV: Connect3 Productions, the Montreal-based prodco led by Pablo Salzman and backed by Cineflix Media, has secured two formats for international adaptation.

Connect3 was launched by former Cineflix exec Salzman with backing from his old employer in November. Following MipFormats here in Cannes at the weekend, the company has now optioned SOS: Stories of Survival, which airs in French-speaking Canada on Bell Media’s Ztélé channel.

Produced by Productions Lustitia and airing as Expédition Extrême, the format sees celebrities thrown into challenging outdoor expeditions based on real-life survival experiences.

Cineflix Media’s sales and acquisitions division, Cineflix Rights, is representing the format at MipTV this week. Sweden’s Nice Entertainment Group has already optioned the SOS: Stories of Survival format from Cineflix Rights.

Connect3 has also optioned 100 Years at the Table. The format, produced for Télé-Québec by Coco.TV, sees leading chefs explore a nation’s history through cuisine by preparing signature dishes inspired by famous characters, places and events.

The format deals were set up through Cineflix’s International Development Initiative for Quebec Content, which fosters the adaptation of French-language series and formats created by Quebec-based producers for the English-speaking global market.

Connect3 recently announced a coproduction partnership with Brazil’s Boutique Filmes to develop and produce a high-end scripted series about Nazi hunters with the working title The Chase.
