Top speakers line up for Unscripted

C21 has announced the first seven speakers for its upcoming Unscripted Entertainment Forum, which takes place as part of Content London on November 27.

“Stephen”Stephen Lambert, CEO, Studio Lambert and chairman All3Media America will provide the morning keynote, shining a light on the most progressive unscripted television development strategy.

Lambert is one of Britain’s best-known creative television executives, responsible for creating reality hits such as Undercover Boss, Wife Swap, Secret Millionaire, Perfect Match and Faking It.

Sessions devoted to channel commissioning will see Hamish Mykura, EVP programming and development, National Geographic Global Networks and Ed Sayer head of original commissioning , Discovery Networks International joined by other key channel executives to discuss their programming plans.

“Hemish”Mykura leads National Geographic Global Network's production hub based in London. He is responsible for developing and supplying new programming for the core National Geographic Channel and also for Nat Geo Wild, NGC HD, Nat Geo Wild HD and Nat Geo People, and is increasingly focused on bringing major premium projects from UK and International producers to National Geographic Channels’ global commissioning team in Washington, D.C.

Recent series successes have included Genius by Stephen Hawking, Primal Survivor and the worldwide hit Science of Stupid as well as singles and specials including Dinosaur Autopsy and Challenger Disaster – the Lost Tapes. He also commissions content for National Geographic’s portfolio of networks beyond the US, throughout 171 countries. Hamish established the global commissioning hub in London in 2012.

“Sayer” Sayer joined the Discovery team in October 2015 and in his role, he oversees, commissions and creates content, including series and specials, across all genres for Discovery Networks International’s London production hub to be broadcast in more than 220 countries, including the UK.

He is an experienced executive producer and international channel commissioner who has led numerous creative and ratings successes throughout his career and has been responsible for many hundreds of hours of content.  Recent commissions include Idris Elba: Fighter, Artic Waters: The Last Harbour, Ed Stafford: Left For Dead and Body Bizarre.

“Lisa” Lisa Perrin, CEO of Creative Networks, Endemol Shine Group will lend her experience to a conversation about the current state and future prospects for the global unscripted content market.

Perrin leads Endemol Shine’s international Creative Division, focusing on the co-ordination and acceleration of IP around the group, supporting a network of 120 companies in more than 30 markets around the world.





“David” David Mortimer, director of content at Tinopolis Group is also confirmed as a speaker. Mortimer arrived at Tinopolis in January 2017 and is responsible for the group’s overall production strategy, creative direction and performance, working across the portfolio of production companies both in the UK and the US.

Prior to joining the company he was SVP, factual & entertainment at NBCUniversal, overseeing the studio’s international unscripted production companies in the UK, Australia, Canada and Asia, winning commissions from key territories worldwide for shows ranging from Made in Chelsea (Channel 4) and The Real Housewives franchise (Bravo, ITVBe, Foxtel, Corus) to Driving School of Mum & Dad (Sky 1) and QuizUp (NBC).

“Tim”Joining a panel about the emergence of new unscripted hits from the new wave of international territories is formats guru Tim Crescenti, CEO of Small World IFT. Tim and Colleen Crescenti founded Small World IFT in 2005 and have brought hits like Dragons’ Den (aka Shark Tank in his Sony days), I Survived a Japanese Game Show, All-Star Lifeguards, Silent Library, Miss Country Girl, The Fan and Japanizi Going Going Gong to the world.

Prior to launching Small World, Tim was VP of international formats for Sony Pictures Television International. Tim acquired such winning formats as the Sony/BBC 2 mega-hit, Dragons’ Den. 

“David” David Flynn, co-founder of Youngest Media completes the first seven. Youngest Media is a global entertainment studio creating, producing and distributing formats across TV, digital video and apps and games. Launched in 2016, recent Youngest productions have included innovative dating reality series Game of Clones for E4, which has just been picked up as a series by NT12 in France, Worst Dates for BBC3 and a brand funded short-form series for AOL.

Prior to founding Youngest David was chief creative officer at Endemol Shine Group UK, where he oversaw creativity for the group and created and executive produced innovative global hit The Million Pound Drop, which travelled to 54 territories and won a Bafta for digital creativity, and co-created and executive produced BBC1 hit Pointless and interactive talent show The Singer Takes It All. He will speak on a panel covering the current state of unscripted television development.
