Compact backs Warrior Women

Compact Media Group has made its latest investment into original content with Urban Canyons, a UK independent production company that specialises in documentaries.

Compact will provide funding towards Urban Canyon’s forthcoming series Warrior Women in return for a share of revenues from future exploitation of the production.

Warrior Women is set to be a 3×52’ drama documentary that uncovers the most skilled, ferocious and iconic women fighters of all time. The series is being shot in 4K and will be delivered in both HD and UHD/4K in July 2017.

Along with Compact, Warrior Women is also being supported by the European Media Creative Fund and the Malta Film Commission. It is being coproduced by US-based Smithsonian Networks and German state broadcaster ZDF.

Compact’s investment represents the group’s latest agreement with an indie since launching its production finance initiative last October. The initiative will focus on up to 20 production investments in original content over 12 months.

“This investment represents an exciting opportunity for Compact to deepen our partnership with Urban Canyons,” said David Johnson, CEO of Compact Media.

“Working together through our AV royalty services, it seemed very fitting for us to get involved with supporting the production of their incredibly high-quality content at this stage. With over 1,400 companies trusting us across our services we look forward to reaching out and seeing how we might help them further with our ability to invest.”
