The Gorburger Show has been created by Ryan McNeely and Josh Martin, who also write, direct and executive produce the series.

Joining the pair as exec producers is TJ Miller (Silicon Valley), who voices and operates the title character, a giant blue extra-terrestrial who has enslaved the staff of a Japanese television variety show.

The eight-episode first season is due to begin airing this spring and is based on the Funny Or Die digital series of the same name.

Comedy Central has ordered a fifth season of Drunk History, which also originated online via Funny Or Die. The series features drunken narrators recounting historical events while A-list actors perform the re-enactments.

In related news, fellow Viacom-owned network TV Land has ordered a second season of Nobodies, its comedy exec produced by Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone.

The 12-episode renewal comes ahead of the show’s debut on TV Land in March. The single-camera comedy revolves around three friends who try to persuade one of their celebrity pals to sign up to a feature script they have written.
