Comedy Central orders Attell uncut

Viacom-owned US cablenet Comedy Central has commissioned a late-night stand-up series fronted by comedian Dave Attell.

An 8×30’ series is being produced by 3 Arts and will premiere in 2014.

The as-yet-untitled show will be hosted by Attell alongside a number of other comedians, uncensored and unfiltered. The programme will feature sets from up-and-coming talent as well as familiar faces in the comedy world.

In addition, Comedy Central has ordered a one-hour stand-up special featuring Attell to premiere next year. The comic previously starred in travelogue series Insomniac with Dave Attell, which aired for four seasons on Comedy Central between 2001 and 2004. He also revived The Gong Show for the channel in 2008.

Kent Alterman, president of content development and original programming at Comedy Central, said: “When I was first approached for this, I thought someone said Dave Chappelle. I immediately said yes. I love Dave Attell, too, so it’s fine.”
