Comedy Central gets drunk

US cabsat network Comedy Central has commissioned a new series based on the web property Drunk History.

The web series featured US comedy talent Jack Black, Jim Carrey, Michael Cera and Zooey Deschanel, amongst others, re-enacting moments from history as related by an inebriated storyteller.

The 8×30′ TV version, expected to premiere in summer 2013, will be executive produced by creator Derek Waters, director Jeremy Konner and Gary Sanchez Productions’ Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy and Owen Burke.

Meanwhile, the Viacom-owned channel has also ordered fourth and fifth series, both 13 episodes long, of its single-camera comedy Workaholics. Blake Anderson, Anders Holm and Adam Devine of US comic troupe Mail Order Comedy play graduates working in telemarketing and desperately looking for ways to avoid real work.
