Comedy Central extends animations

US cable and satellite network Comedy Central has commissioned a new series based on a collection of animated shorts.

Triptank (8×30′) features 2D, stop-motion and CGI animation and showcases comedic talent in the US as well as established comedians. The pilot starred Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Larry David and The Hangover’s Zach Galafianakis, among others.

Exec producers Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico, from US prodco ShadowMachine, said the series “is the ultimate playground for comedy writers and animators.” It will air on the Viacom-owned channel next fall.
