CNN unscripted to explore Vatican, Detroit

CNN in the US is expanding its original unscripted slate with five new shows, including a six-part documentary about the Vatican.

Also on the slate is Detroit 1963: Once in a Great City (wt), from Zero Point Zero, which explores the US city during its automobile manufacturing heyday; and Bat Bridge Entertainment’s American Heiress: The Patty Hearst Story, based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst.

1968: The Year That Changed America (wt) explores a year marked by seismic shifts in US politics, while Kennedys: An American Dynasty (wt) is from Raw TV and reveals how personal relationships within the dynasty helped shape national and global events.

Sibling network HLN, meanwhile, has ordered a five-part series that takes viewers inside the search for the Golden State Killer. Unmasking A Killer is from Joke Productions and examines the historical and social impact of the man believed to be the most prolific uncaught rapist and serial killer in the US.
